    Mark's story

    01 / How I can help

Wherever you are with drinking, we start there.

You don't need to call yourself an alcoholic, or wait for things to get serious, to talk to someone. Most people who reach out are holding it together, with jobs, families and busy lives. They just feel alcohol is taking more from them than they want it to.

This is coaching, not treatment, and it isn't just about taking alcohol away. One to one and online, we work out what you actually want your life to look like, set goals that matter to you and track your progress, with the accountability to stick with it. You're building towards something, not just giving something up.

    01

    Drinking more than you'd like

One drink that turns into several. The weekend that starts on Thursday. Less energy, worse sleep, the gym on hold. You don't have to stop forever to want more control.

    02

    Thinking about stopping

You've made the decision, or you're curious about it. We'll set realistic goals that fit your real life, and I'll keep you accountable through the first weeks.

    03

    Dry January and beyond

Thirty one days off is a brilliant reset. With a plan and someone to check in with, it's a lot easier to finish, and to decide what comes next.

    04

Staying alcohol free once you've stopped

Stopping is one thing. Building a life you don't want to escape from is the part that lasts. We work on that together.

    02 / Meet Mark

24 years on the front line. Now I'm in your corner.

    The paramedic years

I've been delivering pre-hospital care since 2002, and since 2010 as a frontline NHS ambulance paramedic, often meeting people at the lowest points in their lives. The job taught me to listen, stay calm and never judge. I'm HCPC registered and a Member of the Royal College of Paramedics. That's my background. What I offer now is coaching, not medical care.

    Alcohol free since 2017

By 2017, juggling shift work, a young family and a lot of stress, I'd come to lean on alcohol to cope, and it had crossed a line. So I took it out of the equation. I found more energy, lost weight and got my confidence back. I'm not here to preach, and I won't tell you what your answer should be.

    The Sober Club accredited coach

    Trained to coach

In July 2026 I qualified as a sober coach with The Sober Club, trained by Janey Lee Grace, because I'm passionate about supporting "grey area" and "middle of the road" drinkers who are curious about life with less or no alcohol. I've also coached sport, including rugby at a high amateur level, so setting goals, keeping people accountable and working towards measurable progress is nothing new to me.

Every session is with me. No call centre and no passing you on. Just me on a video call, in your corner, for as long as you need.

    Calm misty landscape at dawn

Day one starts with a conversation.

You don't need to have it all worked out. You just need to say hello.

    03 / Why a paramedic?

    People let paramedics in.

When the ambulance turns up, nobody asks for a CV. People open the door and tell us the truth, because they know we're there to help and not to judge.

That trust is what I bring to coaching. I'm not here as your paramedic, and coaching isn't medical care. You get someone steady, honest and on your side.

    01

    No labels, no judgement

You don't need to call yourself anything. Nothing you tell me will shock me, and nothing leaves the room.

    02

    Calm under pressure

Years of emergencies teach you to slow things down. We'll take it one step at a time, never all at once.

    03

    Straight talk

Honest conversations about how drinking is affecting your sleep, energy and mood. No lectures, no scare tactics.

    04

    Alcohol free since 2017

I've made this change in my own life. That doesn't make my answer yours, but it changes the conversation.

    05

    A coach's eye

Years of coaching sport taught me how people really improve: clear goals, measurable progress, accountability and someone who keeps showing up.

    06

    Private and online

Sessions happen on a video call from wherever you feel comfortable. No waiting rooms. Nobody else needs to know.

04 / For the people who show up

    Work shifts? Work under pressure?

Support from someone who understands shift work, high pressure roles and the culture that can come with them. I've spent 24 years on the NHS frontline myself, working shifts while raising a family. Every role and every person is different, but you won't have to explain the basics.

Sessions fit around your rota, nothing goes back to your employer, and emergency service personnel rates can be arranged.

    Emergency services

Ambulance, fire, police and control rooms.

    NHS and healthcare

Wards, GP surgeries, community teams and care.

    Shift workers

Nights, earlies and long runs of days that mess with your week.

Not in the emergency services? You don't need to be. Coaching is open to anyone who wants to look at their drinking, whatever you do for a living.

Small changes that add up to a different life.

Everyone's different, so coaching follows you, not a script. These are the things that come up most.
